| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How much money should I start with? | Enough that position sizes are meaningful but small enough that losing it changes nothing about your life. For most people that is a few hundred units of their base currency. Brokers offering micro lots let you size positions sensibly at that level. |
| How long should I stay on a demo account? | Long enough to trade through a full range of conditions, including a major news release and a quiet session — usually a couple of months. Demo trading stops being useful once you are consistently following your own rules, because it cannot teach you how you react to real losses. |
| What is leverage and how does it wipe accounts? | Leverage lets you control a position much larger than your deposit. At 30:1, a 3.3% move against a fully leveraged position erases the account. The danger is not the leverage available but the position size traders choose because it is available. |
| Do I need to pay for a trading course? | No. Every broker on this list publishes free structured education, and the paid courses sold to new traders rarely contain anything the free material does not. Spend the money on a longer runway instead. |
